Total Sports Tuesday-August 31st

Good Evening Sports Fans!

Well, like I said I want to try and get some theme days going and since I love alliteration and lets be honest you can't make Warcraft post on any day but Wednesday if you wanna some high quality alliteration I'm making Tuesday the day I talk about sports. First things first, I cannot wait for football to start in two weeks. I know what you're saying, "But Tamu college football starts this weekend." And what I would say to you is who cares? Professional football is the pinnacle of the sport because these are the best in the world destroying each other every week. You can keep your rivalries and your walk-ons, I'll take the thoroughbred  athletes who are the best at what they do. It doesn't get any better than watching Adrian Peterson trucking DBs to the ground or Randy Moss snatching a ball outta the air with one of his big mitts. And watching Adrian Wilson come across the middle and destroy someone going up for the ball is the most intense thing I can imagine.

There is one bad thing about football starting, it means that I have to watch Brett Favre  contaminate my beloved Vikings. I know, I know he's a pretty good QB and, quite honestly, we probably can't win any Super Bowls with T-Jack as our QB, but let's get real...Favre is a Packer. It makes me want to throw up seeing the one person in sports that I actually hate suit up in the purple and gold. I mean this guy spent 18 some years ripping out Vikings fans hearts and spitting on him and now we're letting him on our team? And happy about it? That's ridiculous...a Vikings fan cheering for Favre is like cheering for Satan; you just can't do it. I would honestly rather go 0-16 than win a Super Bowl with Favre on the team...I totally wouldn't mind if the Saints took some late hits in the first game and broke his femur.

Now on to some other things. One thing I can't understand about this year's fantasy drafts is why are people wanting to take Chris Johnson over Adrian Peterson. I realize Johnson went for over 2,000 last year, but how many times has that happened? 6? Do we really think this guy is going to do it again? Plus a lot of his yards came on long runs, which you can't guarantee will keep coming from him. Now they might, but if you're trying to win a league don't want the sure thing in AD, who has produced well for three years, instead of the guy who had one big year? Let's remember the year Ryan Grant had a monster season and people were taking him really high and then when teams started keying on him his production went down a lot. Grant is a solid number two back, but not the number starter he was made out to be back in the day. We could also look even further back to Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, and Priest Holmes. These guys all had big years and went high in drafts the next year and came crashing down. I'm not saying Johnson can't come back and have another monster season, but if I were you and had the number one pick (I had the number 3 in mine, but I still got AD, hooray for my friends loving QBs) I would much rather take the sure thing over the guy whose had one good year, is pretty small, and could easily get worn down.

Some good news came about in the world of basketball. The US picked up another win against Brazil in the world championships. They were led by my man from the OKC Thunder (yes I'm from Oklahoma, no I've never rode a horse), Kevin "The Durantula" Durant. Homeboy dropped 27 and had a mad block that got me outta my seat. Now, I'm usually hard on Durant because he doesn't play the best defensive on our team, but after watching him play internationally it's obvious that he can play D, but on the Thunder (a young team who plays hungry D) he needs to focus more on scoring and give up a little on D. I also want to point out some other players who came through pretty big. Chauncey Billups brought some leadership to the table and had 15 points and Andre Iguodala had 5 steals, while Derrick Rose chipped in with four. However, the game wasn't all roses and daisies. It was a close game that almost slipped away if not for a missed shot at the end from Brazil Leandro Barbosa, who had 14 points and 4 steals. Brazil's big man Tiago Splitter really put our guys to the test and showed a lack of depth as well as our current struggles with the pick and roll. In the end though we got the W and that's what matters; plus I have this crazy idea that when it comes time to defend the Olympic gold we might be adding a super man in the form of Dwight Howard.

That's all I got for sports this week, join me next time, some time, same place.

Inaugural Blog Post

As the first post of this, my new and really first blog, this post probably will be slim on content, but should give a decent idea of what I plan to do with this bad boy. Not that I expect a lot of people to be hitting this up, but if you do come across this you should at least get a mission statement so to speak. In my head I'm planning to update this thing a few times a week at the very least, hopefully everyday. I also want to have certain days that have a theme every week, but what you should know in coming to this is that you're going to be getting a blog mostly dealing with video games, namely World of Warcraft. With that said, don't be surprised if you get some weekly posts on sports or music as I plan to keep this thing semi well-rounded.

So now that we have a mission statement so to speak, let's get down to the nitty gritty, what you should and shouldn't expect from this blog. First, don't expect some expert theory crafting. As my name says I'm not going to come out claiming to be the best Hunter or WoW player in the world, but I will attempt to give you the funnies and maybe a different perspective than what you usually see in people who make blogs. Now I'm not a complete Huntard and I know my class fairly well, but I'm no BRK and that's fine, we need the casual players to go along with the hardcore. So if you're looking for a blog for the casual player you've come to the right place. Next, this isn't a WoW blog even thought I spent the past few sentences telling you about Warcraft. While there will be quite a bit of content on WoW, don't not take a look because you don't play because I'm fairly well-rounded on games and other things and will try to give my viewpoint on many different games. And finally, come in here ready to have a good time. I like to laugh and try to make people laugh so hopefully you can come in here and get some good info as well as a bit of a chuckle.

So with the rules done let's get to blogging! Hopefully this thing can do what I want it to and maybe at least one person out there will enjoy it.
